Richard
Watson is the leading saddler in the production of Flex Panel Saddles.
Richard has been building saddles for 39 years, starting at age 17. He
began building flex panel saddles for the original Ortho Flex
company under the ownership of Len Brown starting in
1990.
Richard has improved the design over the years and his saddles
are the best you will ever find for your comfort and more importantly, for the
correct fit of your equine partner. Whether pleasure trail riding,
western competition in endurance or extreme trail riding, you will never have
anticipate
buying another saddle.
Here are the features of the RL WATSON Flex Panel Saddles:
Richard makes all of his own trees from dried spruce then
covers them in epoxy cloth for durability. The underside is made out of
real sheep-wool with a synthetic backing. The twist is narrow for a
comfortable fit for the rider's hips, back and legs. The stirrups are hung
in perfect alignment from ankles to hips. No chair or forward position.
The R.L. Watson Flex Endurance Panel saddles come in lengths of 15, 16, 17
and 18 inches. The length of the skirts run from 22" starting with a 15"
seat and go up to 24" on the 17" and 18" seats, and 23"
on the 16" seat. It is recommended that the 15" seat be fitted only if you
are a featherweight rider under 130 lbs. and of correct proportion. The
weight will run approximately 15 lbs. for the 15" seat
and you can add another pound for inch increments over
that.

The
seats are covered in a one-inch memory foam cushion to go the distance in
comfort and style. We call these seats "FFS" or Fanny Friendly Seats.
Your tush will never feel so good as when sitting in a Watson Saddle!
On the Western saddles, the length of the skirts run
from 25" with a 15" seat, 26" on the 16" seat to 27" on
the 17" and 18" seat. The weight on the Western
saddles will run from 20 to 24 lbs. depending on the
model you order.
Because Richard Watson has such vast experience in the Flex
Panel Saddles, he has eliminated any pressure points from the panels being
attached to the tree by only using one layer in the construction of the panel
instead of multiple layers, as some of the new Flex Panel saddles showing up on
the market are using. This also gives you much closer contact with your
horse.
The leather is a Number One Herman Oak made right here in the
USA. It is buttery soft, yet will withstand the roughest trail riding and
is just darn right gorgeous!
The beauty of the RL WATSON Flex Panel Saddles is that you can
start a green unconditioned horse as a youngster in one of his saddles and as
the horse builds muscle and his shape changes, you will not have to purchase
another saddle. The RL WATSON Flex Panel will fit 95% of all horses.
No saddle will fit all horses and RL WATSON makes no claims that his will.
RL WATSON has designed several endurance-trail model saddles, to
fit just about any budget. All saddles are made with the same trees,
leather and expert custom hand craftsmanship. Some of the lesser priced
models will have a little fewer bells and whistles, but the saddles will still
hold up to whatever riding venue you take on.
Because each saddle is handmade as the orders come in, there are
no demo saddles. Richard Watson will give you a 30-day trial period and if for any reason you don't like it, you can return
it in like new condition for a full refund, less the cost of shipping.
Because this saddle is so well fitted for your horse, you will
not need an expensive pad. The pad is only to protect the underside of the
saddle. We recommend a 1/2" pad to wear under your RL WATSON Flex
Panel Saddle.
